There is no such thing as a superior martial art—only superior artists. It is meaningless to say aikido is better than judo or krav maga is better that aikido or MMA is better than Gracie Jujitsu – such statements are ridiculous on the face of them.
Each art has its relative strengths and weaknesses, areas of efficiency and inefficiency, each has blind spots. This is due to the simple fact that you cannot build a strong refined reflexive strategy without also building in vulnerabilities. Even arts that stab at being universal in application – doing a bit of everything — fall down by diluting themselves into mediocrity. High levels of application require greater and greater specialization on narrower and narrower areas of efficiency.
The best martial art is the one that works for you.
