The most basic things are quite often the things we teach first. Tsune-no-kamae is a very simple posture in Jyodo, yet we often do it incorrectly.
The jo should balance on our middle finger, with our index & ring fingers only slightly touching it to provide support. The wrist and hand should be loose and relaxed.
The jo should hang naturally at your side With the tip in your centerline at about belt level And with Nick’s help it’s easy to show how this comes together with a partner. We hold a jo between us at our centers, using only a little pressure to keep it in place. The tip of my jo should intersect this horizontal jo
